The Department of Physics of Smt. S. K. Gandhi Arts, Amolak Science & P.H. Gandhi Commerce College, Kada, Tq. Ashti, Dist. Beed College came into existence in the year 1996. Physics is one of the elective subject for B.Sc. The department aims to facilitate quality teaching and learning, provide proper exposure to the theories and practice in the discipline of physics and motivate the students to higher learning and research. As a part of the practical course, the department organizes study tours, research centre visit at different places of physical interest. Physics is one of the major subjects in various competitive examinations and hence, students find it useful in the study of those examinations.
Our teaching staffs takes special interest in the up gradation of their teaching skills and acquisition and knowledge by attending refresher course, seminars, workshop etc, organised by different universities and colleges. They find time for promoting curricular & co-curricular excellence of the students. They are involved in solving personal problems of the students and try to cultivate in them the qualities like courtesy, kindness and compassion. In 2013-14 curriculum is restructured and semester system is introduced.
The department has a well-equipped laboratory. The Cathode Ray Oscilloscope, Spectroscopes, Common base transistor systems, Surface tension measurement systems, Fly wheels, springs, lamp and scale arrangement, Newton's ring experimental set up, Earth coil, Kater's and Bar Pendulums, computer with internet facility and essential furniture is available in the laboratory. “Pramana”, and “IAPT” ISSN Journal are available in the department and central library. The department offers a B.Sc. degree course at undergraduate level.
Along with the conventional methods of teaching, LCD projector, Physical models, Practical volumes, E-content, Charts are used for are making the teaching more effective. For additional knowledge of subject videos, Internet and field visit are provided to the students. Study tours/Research centre visit are organized to provide the realistic knowledge to the students. Physics Knowledge Test is arranged for students. Open discussions and feedback from the students provide further scope for up gradation. In addition to class room learning, library, internet, computers, seminars are the other means of learning in the department. The continuous evaluation process through test, tutorial, group discussion, and seminar and assessment of journals along with semester examinations is very much helpful to know the subject knowledge of students.
To upgrade the students to cope up with the modern science and make them academically proficient.
