The department of sociology established in 1996 is one of the oldest department of Our college. There are at present 120 per year sanctioned seats for the subjects. There is a full time lecture in the department. The students grasp the social structure, understand the social processes, map the dynamics of social change and make sense of individual and collective experinces in their proper social context. The study of sociology provides an understanding of human social behavior and analysis of the social processes. Socilogists study structures that organize society such as social institutions, race, social class and gender. The department maintaioned an excellent academic record and has produced a number of eminent alumni who now hold prominent positions in different sectors.
Advancement and dissemination of sociological knowledge for upholding values such as democracy, equality, social justice and inclusiveness required for just and humane society.
